Audi has announced a recall affecting its 2012 A6 models that may develop a fault to do with the car’s airbags. According to the official notice, the models affected are sedans built between April 8, 2011, through May 26, 2011.
Thankfully, only 317 cars are expected, all of which are in the US. Audi says that the problem has something to do with the stitching process in the curtain airbags of the 2012 A6 sedan. This might not up to the expansion process that takes place when they are deployed.
If the curtain airbags are not deployed properly, it constitutes a serious safety risk for the passengers, especially in the case of a side collision.
To find out if your A6 is affected, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) at 1-888-327-4236 or Audi at 1-800-822-8987.
