2011 Hyundai Sonata Turbo 'Turboface' TV Ad

A new commercial was created to introduce the new Sonata Turbo model. Dubbed ‘Turboface,’ the ad follows the stylistic creative format of recent commercials featuring Jeff Bridges' light hearted conversational-tone voiceover.

“This funny and compelling commercial illustrates how it really feels to drive the new 2011 Hyundai Sonata Turbo,” Hyundai says on its YouTube channel.

The new Sonata is the first Hyundai vehicle to have both GDI technology and a turbocharger. The power unit is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC manual control. Drivers can access the SHIFTRONIC feature by moving the gear selector into a separate gate. Pushing the selector forward or pulling it rearward will shift the transmission up or down sequentially, adding to driver control.

An LCD display on the instrument panel shows the gear being used. This new six-speed automatic is 26.4 pounds lighter than the five-speed it replaces and 1.6 inches shorter.

The 2.0T engine will be available on the SE and Limited trim level, with the 2.0T Limited getting additional upgrades, including panoramic sunroof, 18-inch hyper silver alloy wheels, dual exhaust system and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The new powerplant is capable of delivering 274 hp and an estimated 34 mpg (6.9 l/100km) highway rating.

The last variant in the Sonata line-up left to hit the market is a hybrid, scheduled to go on sale in early 2011. The car is equipped with a full parallel hybrid drive system, which can operate on an electric motor, gasoline internal combustion engine, and a combination of the two depending on the situation. Sonata Hybrid's projected best-in-class highway fuel economy is of 39 mpg (6 l/100km), while the city fuel economy is of 37 mpg (6.4 l/100km).
