Are you thinking about sprucing up your life with a nice Dodge Viper? How about the 1996 GTS model pictured below? It's an almost new example ready to hit the road again, and it is significantly more affordable than the last time we saw it.
Well, the word affordable doesn't belong next to this 1996 Dodge Viper GTS, as it may have become a bit less expensive, but it still commands the proverbial arm and leg. Nevertheless, more on the finances in a few moments, as we have to remind you that it has only 15,649 miles (25,185 km) on the do, and it comes in an eye-catching specification.

It has a Viper Blue finish with double racing stripes stretching all the way from the front apron to the rear diffuser. The five-spoke alloys are included, and the interior has been greatly maintained for something that came to life nearly three decades ago. The cockpit has black leather upholstery and a timeless design that looks even better today than it did when this vehicle rolled off the line.

Besides the black leather upholstery, this 1996 Dodge Viper GTS also has power door locks, power windows, and a CD player hooked up to what seems to be the original audio system. The owner's manual and service booklet accompany the car, which looks so good that it deserves to be thrashed around the local racetrack after the usual inspection.

It certainly has the firepower for that, as it packs a V10 engine under that long hood. The motor has an 8.0-liter displacement and used to pump out 450 horsepower (456 ps/336 kW) back when it was new. Sure, we may have mega hatchbacks that are almost as potent these days, but none can inject the same amount of adrenaline into its owners whenever the driver abuses the loud pedal.

When we last wrote about this 1996 Dodge Viper GTS, towards the end of May 2024, it used to command a hefty $109,900. Thus, as we mentioned back then, it was pricier than Dodge's discontinued Challenger SRT Super Stock. The muscle car kicked off at $91,300 before destination and dealer fees. So, how much do you think this great Viper costs now?

The answer comes from the same vendor, Garage Kept Motors, which has updated the ad. So, without further ado, this is it: $85,900. As a result, this Dodge Viper GTS is now $24,000 cheaper than before. That's a significant price drop, which inevitably tells us that the car failed to attract a buyer when it used to be a six-digit affair.

Mind you, it's still very costly, and we'd probably think more than twice if a Viper was on our shopping list. So, would you buy it now?
