1979 was the icing on the Trans Am cake, with shipments going through the roof in what became the best year in the history of the nameplate.
Total Firebird sales surpassed 211,000 units, and the Trans Am accounted for over 117,000 units. The base Firebird was still the second most desirable model in the lineup with 38,642 units, but everybody wanted a Trans Am.

The Trans Am demand was so high that Pontiac could not even align the production with the orders. The WS6 package was in hot demand, but because the GM brand couldn't build enough disc brakes (included by default in the WS6 treatment), it launched the WS7 package. WS7 came with everything in the WS6 lineup, minus the four-wheel disc brakes.

A 1979 Trans Am landed on eBay earlier this week in an all-original configuration. Seller jacne_5453 describes it as a "time capsule," and the details they shared online confirm this is the case. The vehicle still carries the original paint, and this is surprising, given its shape. However, the body exhibits accident damage, with the seller explaining that the front lower section and the passenger door require attention, as they were hit by a previous owner when the car was pulled from a garage.

Everything is original, and the condition is impressive, including under the hood. The car rolled off with the WS6 package. The interior looks spotless, with the dash not cracked and the gauges working properly.

The only thing not working on this Trans Am is the power antenna, albeit the factory radio is still there in good shape.

Finding something to hate on this Trans Am is very difficult, especially because of the numbers on the odometer. I kept the best for last, as I'm certain many Trans Am buyers are here for the low-mile promise in the headline. The car has only 19K miles on the clock, and the owner claims it's the original mileage.

I'm certain this Trans Am will rapidly find a new home, but if you're interested in the car, you should contact the seller and arrange an in-person inspection. A third-party verification would also work, but make sure you inspect everything thoroughly, as this Trans Am looks like a great collectible. It only requires minor TLC to resolve the damage on the passenger door and fender.

The owner hopes to get $37,500 for this Trans Am, and it looks like a fair expectation if everything is as advertised. However, the Make Offer option is also live, so if you have another deal in mind, contact the seller to discuss all the details.

The Trans Am is parked in Ringgold, Georgia, and you should theoretically drive it home on its wheels, albeit you probably won't want to do this considering the low miles.
