There are many entertaining activities you can enjoy when you build a Nissan 240SX, but beating nitrous-fed big block machines at the drag strip usually isn’t on the menu.
While we did mention drag racing shenanigans in the paragraph above, you shouldn't put your drifting shoes aside just yet. That's because we’re talking about a 240SX that packs no less than 1,600 hp, with the car having recently entered a no-prep drag racing event.
Those of you who aren’t following the drag racing scene should know that, as their name explains, such events see the driving surface being deprived of the usual grip-enhancing treatment. Add cars with outputs well north of 1,000 hp and you'll be in for one dancing straight line race. Crashes are on the house.
Traction issues aside, this 240SX is powered by a 2JZ heart, with the inline-six using both a massive turbocharger and multiple stages of nitrous to deliver its kick.
This 2JZ works with an 88mm turbo, while the owner also enjoys playing with the hefty nitrous setup as demanded by the threat represented by each opponent.
And boy, oh boy, did this JDM machine have some American metal to fight. Under the Doomsday No-Prep Battle, the event saw some of the most important names on the no-prep scene duking it out loud.
And while the fiery hood-mounted exhaust and the drag radial setup do offer one or two clues about the output of this Nissan, you could still call it a sleeper. As a result, the 240SX delivered quite a few surprises to those driving big block machines, despite the V8 monsters also using nitrous or forced induction.
Interestingly enough, the 240SX seems to be one of the most stable, least prone to crash beasts at the event. Check out the footage below and you’ll understand.
