Before Dodge came up with the Hellcat twins, not too many people thought the Viper could use some extra power. However, things have changed now that the 707-pony Charger and Challenger are here.
Well, we want to show an example of a Viper that has the horsepower equivalent of not one, but two Hellcat V8s. The Gen V (current model) Viper we're here to discuss comes with a twin-turbo package, one that takes the game to 1,500 hp.
Twin-turbo Vipers are nothing new (for instance, we showed you an 1,900 hp early Viper named "Barney" last week), but the beauty of the go-fast animal we have here lays in its street car status.
And while the shape of the Viper doesn't have anything to do with the "sleeper" status, we could apply this label of the reptile we have here.
However, don't expect this Dodge to spend all its time on the road. In fact, the Viper attended the recent Texas Invitational drag racing event - this is the same speed gathering that allowed us to show you Barney, the machine mentioned above.
The piece of footage at the bottom of the page allows you to see the 1,500 hp putting its twin turbos to work, aiming for greater and greater trap speeds.
Keep in mind that we're still dealing with a three-pedal setup here, albeit a reinforced one that can handle all the muscle, which means driving this thing is one hell of an experience, even in a straight line.
Speaking of Vipers, we'll remind you Dodge is preparing to send the current model to supercar heaven and we only have rumors to rely on when it comes to a predecessor. So, if you're in love with the current V10 monster like us, you'll enjoy each and every second of the clip we have here.
