When SRT engineers came up with the Hellcat, they tapped into the daily driver potential of the Challenger. As a result, the factory-blown Dodge is the kind of 707 hp monster you can easily drive on a daily basis. But what about a Challenger with double the power? Would that still be able to serve an enthusiast's daily transportation needs?
Well, if we ask the owner of the 1,300 wheel horsepower Challenger SRT 392 in the videos below, the answer is a positive one. At first, we had a bit of a hard time believing the mix between the muscle machine's output and its daily status was real.
Nevertheless, the driver's Instagram profile looks like it backs up the story. We're dealing with a Sublime Green SRT 392 that has been gifted with enough power and torque to generate wheelspin up to speeds we're afraid to think of. The HEMI under the hood packs a Whipple supercharger and a generous shot of nitrous.
As shown in the first clip below, which reveals the results of a dyno run, the HEMI under the hood of this Dodge can deliver up to 1,310 hp and 1,216 lb-ft of twist. And remember, these are the values at the wheels, which means the crank output could sit as high as 1,500 horses.
Sure, since nitrous is involved, those horses aren't there all the time, but we think this owner has gone far enough to compensate for every ounce of his Challenger's 4,500 lbs. For the record, the V8 delivers 1,026 hp and 982 lb-ft on boost alone.
With the exception of a badge or two, the car looks stock down to the wheels, which brings this driver a special aura when night falls - check out the second and the third videos below and you'll understand.
And the most surreal part of it all? This SRT comes with a manual. And we thought an 850 hp Porsche 911 GT2 makes for an extreme stick proposal...
