In 2011, the South Korean motorcycle manufacturer released the Hyosung GT650R, the largest displacement model of the range. Compared to its naked and half-fairing siblings, the "R" version featured a full fairing.

Over its production period, the Hyosung GT650R remained largely unchanged, receiving some color alterations and a fuel injection system in 2009, which offered smoother throttle response and better emissions.

Hyosung was a South Korean motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1978. It was a division of the Hyosung Group of Industries. In 1979, Hyosung started manufacturing Japanese Suzuki motorcycle designs.

It was part of the Comet series, which comprised three motorcycles with three different displacements. The GT650 was the largest of the series and came in naked, half-faired, and fully-faired versions.

Visually, the motorcycle was fitted with features like a full fairing, a single headlight up front, a medium-sized windscreen, a two-piece dual seat with a passenger grab rail, a two-into-one exhaust system, and six-spoke aluminum wheels.

For suspension, the motorcycle packed a 41 mm inverted fork on the front end with 120 mm of travel and a single shock on the rear with 100 mm wheel travel, providing excellent suspension performance.

Regarding performance, the 2011 Hyosung GT650R's soul was brought to life by a 647cc four-stroke V-twin, liquid-cooled engine that delivered 80 hp at 9,000 rpm and 68 Nm (50 lb-ft) torque at 7,500 rpm.
