HYOSUNG GT250R (2009-2010) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 2009, the South Korean motorcycle maker released the Hyosung GT250R, a fully-faired quarter-liter motorcycle that debuted in 2004 alongside its naked sister model, the GT250 Comet.

Hyosung was a South Korean motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1978. It was a division of the Hyosung Group of Industries. In 1979, Hyosung started manufacturing Japanese Suzuki motorcycle designs.

The Comet series comprised 125, 250, and 650cc V-twin-powered recreational motorcycles. The GT250 was the naked version, and the GT250R was fully faired. The bike's suspension system comprised a 51 mm inverted fork mounted on the front end and a pre-load-adjustable shock absorber on the rear, which provided excellent riding characteristics.

The braking power came from two 300 mm brake rotors mounted on the front wheel and a 230 mm brake rotor mounted on the rear wheel. Hydraulic calipers clamped all discs, providing excellent stopping performance.

Power-wise, the 2009 Hyosung GT250R boasted 28 hp with a peak force at 10,500 rpm and 22 Nm (16 lb-ft) torque at 8,000 rpm from a 249cc four-stroke V-twin liquid-cooled engine fed by two 26 mm Mikuni carburetors.

The motorcycle was complemented visually by features such as six-spoke aluminum wheels, a two-into-one exhaust system with a silencer mounted on the right-hand side, a two-piece dual seat with a pillion grab rail, and a full fairing with a medium-sized windscreen.
