HUSQVARNA SM 450 R (2009-2010) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 2009, the Swedish motorcycle maker released the Husqvarna SM 450 R, a naked motorcycle that reflected the new family look first seen on the TC45 and TE310 enduro motorcycles.

The 2009 model benefited from the previous model's improvements, which included new plastics with great coloring and factory charm, improved rigidity on the chassis that was also slightly lighter, several changes to the transmission for faster gear changes, and a new fuel injection system.

Husqvarna Group was a Swedish manufacturer of outdoor power products, including chainsaws, brush cutters, robotic lawnmowers, trimmers, cultivators, garden tractors, and motorcycles. The company was founded in 1689 as a firearm manufacturer and was one of the oldest continuously running companies in the world.

For suspension, the motorcycle packed a 50 mm Marzocchi inverted fork on the front with compression and rebound-stroke adjustments that offered 250 mm of travel and an adjustable single shock absorber on the rear with 290 mm of travel.

The braking power was achieved by a 320 mm wave brake disc on the front clamped by a four-piston caliper and a 220 mm brake rotor tied to a single-piston caliper.

Regarding power, the 2009 Husqvarna SM 450 R's soul was brought to life by a 449cc four-stroke liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that delivered 47 hp at 8,500 rpm and 42 Nm (31 lb-ft) torque at 7,000 rpm.
