HONDA XR650L (1993-2000) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 1993, the Japanese maker launched the Honda XR650L, a street/trail motorcycle more similar to the XR600R than the XR650R. It was part of the XR series, which comprised many models with different engine displacements and designations.

The bike had a steel tube frame, as opposed to the aluminum spar unit used by the XR650R, and a 644cc air-cooled SOHC dry-sump single-cylinder engine similar to the one used by the XR600R but with a larger displacement.

The 644cc engine was first seen in the 1988 NX650 Dominator, making it the longest-produced RFVC engine by the Japanese maker. In addition, the Honda XR 650L was one of the longest-production models in motorcycling's history.

Over its production period, the bike remained unchanged, packing features, such as a high-mounted front fender, a small headlight integrated into a small cowl, an engine plate, a single seat with a toolbox, a high-mounted exhaust muffler, and wire-spoke wheels shod with off-road tires.

As for the power figures, the 1993 Honda XR650L's heartbeat was set by a 644cc four-stroke liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, boasting 40 hp with a peak at 6,750 rpm and 64 Nm (47 lb-ft) torque at 5,500 rpm.

A close-ratio five-speed manual transmission assisted the bike's engine, which delivered the power to the rear through a final chain drive.
