HONDA XR 600R (1988-1994) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Honda XR 600R was a dual-purpose motorcycle introduced by Honda in 1985 and used in Baja races. It was part of the XR series, which comprised many versions with different displacements and designations.

The Honda XR series was a range of enduro motorcycles produced by Honda. The bikes were designed in Japan but assembled all over the globe. Several XR models came in two versions, "L" and "R".

In 1988, the Japanese motorcycle maker released the Honda XR 600R, a motorcycle in its fourth year of production. Four years after its release, in 1988, the bike was revised by removing its original dual progressively opening carburetors and replacing them with a larger, single carburetor. In addition, the rear brake was updated to disc.

The bike's visual department was characterized by standard features, such as a high-mounted front fender, a small rectangular headlight integrated into a small cowl, a single seat with a toolbox, a high-mounted exhaust system, an engine plate, and wire-spoke wheels with off-road tires.

In the performance department, the 1988 Honda XR 600R had installed a 591cc four-stroke air-cooled single-cylinder engine at its core, delivering 47 hp at 6,000 rpm and 52 Nm (38 lb-ft) torque at 5,500 rpm.

For stopping power, the bike had a 256 mm brake disc on the front, tied to a dual-piston caliper, and a single disc on the rear.
