The Honda Shadow was a family of cruiser machines that debuted in 1983 with different engine displacements and designations. The line comprised models powered by a V-twin engine with displacement ranging from 125 to 1,100cc.

In 2002, the Japanese bike maker released the Honda VT600C Shadow VLX, a compact yet comfortable cruiser motorcycle due to its bucket seat, pulled-back handlebar, and forward-mounted foot controls.

The 2002 cruiser motorcycle was the same shape and form as the previous one, offering the same technical, visual, and performance characteristics without any significant modifications.

Regarding power, the 2002 Honda VT600C Shadow VLX's heartbeat was set by a 583cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine fed by a single 34 mm diaphragm-type carburetor. It boasted 41 hp at 6,500 rpm and 51 Nm (38 lb-ft) torque at 3,500 rpm.

In the visual department, the bike packed the same standard features as the previous one, like a raked-out front fork, a pulled-back handlebar, a round headlight, a chromed exhaust system, a two-piece dual seat, and wire-spoke wheels with a narrow tire on the front and a fat one on the rear.

The cruiser motorcycle was built around a double-cradle steel frame, with a 39 mm raked-out telescopic fork on the front offering 145 mm of travel and a seven-position spring-preload adjustable shock absorber on the rear with 90 mm wheel travel.
