HONDA VT700C SHADOW (1984-1985) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Honda Shadow was a name for a cruiser-type motorcycle in Honda's range manufactured in 1983. The line comprised motorcycles powered by a liquid-cooled V-twin engine with displacements ranging from 125 to 1,100cc.

In 1984, the Japanese motorcycle maker released the Honda VT700C Shadow, a motorcycle in the same class as the Honda Sabre and Magna models. The bike was known as a "tariff-buster" and was introduced exclusively for the American market.

The motorcycle introduced in 1984 was available in either Black or Candy Scorpio Red, while the 1985 model came with Black or Candy Glory Red color schemes. In addition, both models had painted side covers with a Shadow 700 decal.

The bike's visual department was characterized by standard fittings, like a round headlight on the front, a pulled-back handlebar, a dual seat with a rider lumbar support and a passenger backrest, side-mounted rear shocks, and five-spoke alloy wheels.

The bike was built around a double-cradle steel frame. Its front 39 mm air-assisted telescopic fork offered 145 mm wheel travel, and its dual shock absorbers, with spring preload-adjustability, offered 103 mm of travel.

In the performance department, the 1984 Honda VT700C Shadow had installed a 750cc four-stroke V-twin liquid-cooled engine that delivered an output power of 62 hp at 7,500 rpm and 62 Nm (46 lb-ft) torque at 6,000 rpm.
