Segment: Sport Touring
Production years: 2011, 2012
The 2012 Honda ST1300A ABS was a safer version of the standard machine, with an additional Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) that increased control and safety by preventing the wheels from locking on hard braking or slippery surfaces.
The ST1300 debuted in 2002 in the European market as a replacement for the ST1100 model, known as the Pan European, while the following year was released on American land with the ST1300 designation.
It was designed for long-distance cruising and packed many accessories that enhanced its touring capabilities, with an aerodynamic fairing, an electric-adjustable windshield, a comfortable dual seat, large 35-liter panniers, and a trunk with integrated passenger armrests.
The 2012 machine followed the same recipe from day one without any upgrades and modifications, except for annual color changes. Overall, the model was a powerful and comfortable touring machine that offered advanced features and safety technology, enhancing the riding experience.
Its touring capabilities were matched by a robust and reliable engine, fed by a Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) system, delivering smooth and precise power with excellent acceleration.
The 2012 Honda ST1300A ABS packed a cassette-type five-speed transmission bolted to a 1,261cc V4 liquid-cooled engine, which developed 118 hp at 8,000 rpm and 117 Nm (86 lb-ft) of torque at 6,500 rpm.
Although heavy, due to its powerful engine, the 331 kg (730) machine hit a top speed of 225 kph (140 mph).
