HONDA CX 650 Turbo (1983-1986) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Honda CX 500 was a mid-range tourer motorcycle manufactured by Honda from 1978 to 1986. The bike was powered by a longitudinally two-cylinder V-twin engine with four overhead valves per cylinder that sent the power to the rear wheel via a five-speed manual transmission and a shaft drive.

The motorcycle was considered particularly reliable and was the first motorcycle to use tubeless tires. It was also known as "manure pump" and was manufactured in many versions.

In 1983, the Japan-based manufacturer launched the Honda CX 650 Turbo, a touring motorcycle powered by a 647cc V-twin engine assisted by a turbocharger. The bike reached a top speed of 226 kph (140 mph).

For handling, the motorcycle packed a 37 mm adjustable telescopic fork on the front with 130 mm wheel travel, a TRAC system, and a dual-sided swingarm with a Pro-Link Showa shock absorber on the rear with 104 mm wheel travel, providing excellent riding characteristics.

In the braking department, the motorcycle's 18-inch front rim was fitted with two 280 mm brake discs, and the 17-inch rear rim had a 300 mm brake rotor, offering optimum stopping performance.

Regarding power, the 1983 Honda CX 650 Turbo had its soul brought to life by a 647cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine assisted by a turbocharger, boasting 100 hp with a peak at 8,000 rpm and 93 Nm (69 lb-ft) torque at 6,000 rpm.
