BENELLI 304 (1984-1985) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 1984, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer released the Benelli 304, a touring-oriented machine in its first production year. It was set in motion by a small displacement 231cc four-cylinder engine and featured a classic Italian design.

The Benelli 304 was a touring-oriented motorcycle produced by Benelli for only five years, from 1984 to 1988. The bike was in the same category as the 354 Sport and 350 RS and was created especially for touring purposes.

In the performance department, the 1984 Benelli 304 had its soul brought to life by a 231 four-stroke four-cylinder air-cooled engine at its core, delivering 28 hp with a peak at 10,500 rpm and 19 Nm (14 lb-ft) torque at 9,000 rpm.

The energy generated by the engine was converted into motion by a five-speed manual gearbox linked to the rear end via a final chain drive, launching the motorcycle to a maximum speed of 150 kph (93 mph).

The riding characteristics were set by a tubular steel frame that housed the suspension system comprised of a 30 mm hydraulic telescopic fork on the front and a dual-sided swingarm with two side-mounted shocks on the rear.

As for the visual department, the bike packed a round headlight, a color-matched front fender, a four-into-two exhaust system with a silencer mounted on each side, a one-piece, two-up seat, a center stand, and 12-spoke aluminum alloy wheels.
