Currently, the only way you could have a hotter version of the hotter-than-the-Trinidad-Scorpion-Moruga chilli pepper A45 AMG is to order the Edition 1 version of the car. You will probably regret that purchasing decision, though, after the Black Series of the AMG A-Class arrives sometime next year.
The restless spy photographers we work with recently spotted a test prototype of the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG with a rather odd-looking body kit comprising of extra wide wheel fenders and a prototype exhaust system which apparently is yet to be finalized.
Usually, an AMG caught by car spy photographers with even wider fenders is the first sign that a Black Series version is coming.
As there is no official or unofficial report about the future model so far, we can only speculate that the car will have an even more powerful version of the M133 two-liter engine with a total power output in the region of 400 hp. All the mandatory Black Series edition goodies will probably be offered, such as less weight, even sportier suspension and a transmission offering crisper gear shifts.
Considering the way in which AMG has churned out a new model every year or so, we expect the car will arrive in production form sometime next year, probably at the Geneva Auto Show in Spring 2014, with the showrooms getting it sometime in the Summer. This is all we have for now, but stay tuned as more info gets leaked about the smallest Black Series model to date.
