When it was launched at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show, the Mercedes-Benz GLA was pretty far from being under the radar, receiving almost the same if not even more attention than what was arguably the star of the show, the Mercedes-Benz Concept S-Class Coupe.
With order not yet starting for yet a few weeks, we'll learn soon enough if the hype around the model at Frankfurt will also translate into a lot of sales, although our feeling is that it more than will.
Mercede-Benz doesn't want to rest on its laurels though, as it seems that they want even more volume from its already great-selling MFA (Modular Front Architecture) platform right before it gets its fifth and final member next year in the shape of the CLA Shooting Brake.
Getting back to the GLA crossover/SUV, the French from Automobile Magazine have got their hands on a bunch of photos allegedly depicting the leaked patent photos for the cheapest GLA and most likely the sales volume bearer.
Dubbed the Mercedes-Benz GLA 180 CDI, the model is to use the Renault-sourced 1.5-liter diesel from the A 180 CDI. Apart from that, the cheapo GLA will apparently also feature old-school steelies and hubcaps, no roof rack, no bi-xenon headlights and a hidden exhaust tip that is probably hidden for a reason.
