Porsche refreshed the eighth generation of the 911 lineup in the summer of 2024 for the 2025 model year, and along with that update, it also improved the rag-top version of this model.

The German sports car manufacturer had always been seen as a perfect blend between a sports car and a daily driver. They were powerful and yet easy to drive. Not all of them, of course. Some of them were just too brutal to be driven regularly, but not the convertibles. These rag-top versions were made mostly to be driven around towns but were still able to rocket from a standstill in a split second and vanish in the distance. With the 992.2 version of the Carrera Cabriolet, Porsche proved once again that it can improve in a facelift more than other automakers did for a new generation.

Along with the introduction of the facelifted version of the 992, Porsche made significant changes to the car’s front. The automaker replaced the bumper and removed the turn signal lamps from them. These were moved inside the round headlights, which were available with LEDs or HD matrix LEDs with more than 32,000 light points. On the apron, the automaker placed a broad black area that sported the radar for the advanced safety systems in the middle, while the side scoops featured twin horizontal slats.

From its profile, the 2025 Porsche Carrera Cabrio had a similar shape to its predecessor, but there were a few details that differed. The German sports car manufacturer equipped it with 19-inch wheels at the front and 20-inch ones at the back featuring a five-lug pattern. Its raked windshield remained the same and was supported by thick A-pillars that also served as safety arches. Covering and uncovering the vehicle took the same 12 seconds as its non-facelifted sibling. At the back, the automaker reshaped the five longitudinal slats of the grille mounted above the engine cover. In addition, the light strip with an integrated arc and “PORSCHE” lettering made the car's rear end look wider. Finally, the license plate was moved higher on the redesigned bumper.

Inside, Porsche had deleted any analog dials from the instrument panel and replaced it with a fresh 12.6-inch curved display. It was one of the most significant changes in the interior in the 911’s history. However, the automaker offered customers the option to personalize their view on the dash and have the tachometer displayed in the middle. Another important upgrade for the refreshed 992 was the introduction of the drive-mode selector on the steering wheel as a standard feature across the range, including on the Carrera and the Carrera Cabriolet, respectively. There were no significant differences in the seats, and there was still not enough room in the back for full-grown adults.

Under the hood, the automaker introduced a more potent version of the same three-liter flat-six powerplant. The power increase was not significant, but the automaker claimed that it managed to cut down emissions. Power went to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
