Stellantis tried to get the most out of its new platform and created the European seven-seat SUV Peugeot 5008 with an electric drivetrain, which promised a 660 km (410 miles) range.

The French automaker Peugeot introduced the first generation of the 5008 in 2009 as an MPV, although it looked mostly like a taller station wagon. Starting with the second generation, which the car manufacturer unveiled in 2017, the vehicle morphed into a three-row crossover. That version was based on the same platform as the 3008 crossover, just longer. In 2024, Peugeot made another step and launched the 5008 on a completely new platform, the STLA-Medium. This allowed the automaker to create hybrids, mild-hybrid, and electric vehicles. As a result, the new crossover had higher chances to reach significant sales numbers in the European Union and in the UK. Meanwhile, Stellantis considered creating a U.S. version of this crossover but with a different badge on the grille.

At the front, the 2024 Peugeot 5008 came with a panel that looked like a grille crisscrossed by deep cuts. Its Pixel LED headlights were continued downwards by the automaker’s signature lights that looked like a lion’s claws. A pair of vertical air intakes flanked the entire front fascia, while lower, on the apron, the automaker added two real air intakes that helped to cool the battery pack.

From its profile, the three-row SUV boasted its standard 19-inch alloy wheels. Customers also had the option to get a 20” set. On the lower side of the doors, the automaker sculptured geometrical shapes above the black side sills that made the vehicle look like it had a higher ground clearance. Behind the rear doors, the 2024 5008 featured a third row of windows next to the trunk that could also accommodate two passengers on jump seats. Like the previous 5008 generation, the 2024 model year came with a contrasting color for the D-pillars, creating a floating roof appearance. Finally, at the back, the raked forward tailgate featured a roof spoiler at its upper side, while in its midsection sported LED taillights. These were also fitted with Peugeot’s three-claw signature styling.

Inside, customers were greeted by a low-mounted dashboard, while in front of the driver was a curved 21-inch Panoramic i-Cockpit. These were two screens covered by the same piece of glass. The one behind the steering wheel was for the instrument panel, while the one atop the center stack was for the infotainment system. An additional tilted forward touchscreen was mounted on the dashboard for additional functions. Between the front occupants, the automaker installed a tall and slim center console that housed the buttons for the electronic parking brake and those for the drivetrain. An elegant aluminum trim and a bar with ambient lighting LEDs adorned the dash panel.

Peugeot installed bolstered front seats at the front, while the middle row featured a 60/40 bench seat for three passengers, with a 40/20/40 seatback folding. This row could slide forward to provide easier access for those seated in the rearmost seating positions.

The automaker offered the E-5008 in a few versions. It installed a 157 kW (210 hp) or a 170 kW (228 hp) motor for the front-wheel drive one. At the same time, the all-wheel drive version featured a 157 kW (210 hp) front motor at the front and an 80 kW (107 hp) one for the rear axle for a combined total output of 237 kW (318 hp). The 400-volt architecture allowed the vehicle, depending on the motor and battery pack, to travel up to 660 km (310 miles) on a single charge.
