New BMW X6 M Hunts Down 992 Porsche 911 Turbo on Nurburgring, Chase Is Wild

While this might be strange to some, there are go-fast aficionados out there who would actually have to choose between the upcoming 992 Porsche 911 Turbo and 2021 BMW X6 M for the spot in their garage - with super-SUVs gaining traction, it has come to this, especially for those who don't mind the scale footprint and sheer size of a super-SUV.

So, whether you identify yourself with the supercar-vs-super-SUV camp or not, the piece of spy footage I've brought along allows you to check out the two go-fast monsters in detail.

The 992 Turbo and the new X6 M test cars can be seen doing their thing on the Nurburgring, with both pieces of Germany being in their advanced stages of development.

As far as the firepower goes, both machines will sit around 600 horsepower. In fact, the Competition trim of the X6 M will push its twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 to a meaty 620 ponies.

When it comes to the Neunelfer though, we can't be sure about the engine generating all that muscle. That's because, due to the race to meet ever-sticter emission regulations, Zuffehausen could retire the current 3.8-liter twin-turbo boxer, going for an all-new unit.

And while the spy clip we have here suggests we're looking at Turbo and Turbo S prototypes, the latter might be retired until the arrival of the ".2" mid-cycle revamp, when it could return in the form of the Turbo S E-Hybrid, as it has been the case with the Panamera and the Cayenne.

Regardless, the eighth-generation platform, with its wider track, along with other tech updates, such as advanced active aero, will turn the new Turbo into a monster. You know, a creature that can blitz the Nurburgring in less than seven minutes - the X6 M might need an extra 45-50 seconds for the job.

Even so, the 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo will still be cast in the role of a daily driver and is expected to be cozier than before when the driver wishes this.

As far as the official debut goes, the 992 Turbo will certainly arrive by the end of the year and we can only hope the same for the all-out M version of the already-released third-gen BMW X6.

P.S: You'll find the chase between the BMW X6 M and the 911 Turbo at the 5:56 point of the clip below, with the rest of the video being focused on the Porscha.
