While Bentley has confirmed it will launch an ultra luxurious SUV in 2016 and Jaguar is already working on a C-X17 concept-based production vehicle, McLaren Automotive says there’s no way their supercar lineup will be diluted by an SUV.
“McLaren needs the global audience to understand our brand, so we need to be consistent in what we build,” McLaren Group CEO Mike Flewitt told the Financial Times earlier this week.
Speaking about the upcoming P13 sportscar, Flewitt said that the Porsche 911 contender will cost two-thirds the price of the 12C (about £110,000) and that the company expects to sell a total of around 4,000 vehicle a year after its release. “I expect about 1,500 sales this year and next year, and then after we get P13, around 4,000 cars,” he added.
