The need to be different, to stand out, can push people to do all sorts of crazy stuff, things they will later most likely regret. It’s how most of those “Fail” videos on YouTube come about.
But as long as things are kept local and they don’t interfere with other people’s lives, then it’s OK, have a blast, do whatever you want to do. Just make sure there’s somebody there filming with an active YouTube account.
If, however, your craving for attention gets in the way of other people’s happiness, then we have a problem. And this red modified Mercedes-Benz CLS from Texas does that on so many levels.
First of all, it’s a red Mercedes-Benz CLS. Never pick red for such an elegant car. It’s the same as buying a black hot-hatch - it goes against every ounce of the logic built around the automotive world.
Then, there are those awful wheels with huge protruding hubs and old-school spokes. Not only are they ugly, but they’re also a real hazard for everyone’s feet around the car. Images of the Carmageddon video game randomly spring into mind.
They’re also very impractical, as the one-foot clearance from the sidewalk clearly shows. Forget about those things while going through a narrow spot and you’ll take off the wheels faster than those trained technicians at Formula One races. Putting them back on, however, might take a little bit longer.
And if you thought the towing hooks on the car in front were annoying, check out this guy’s external spare wheel rack. The rack itself is big enough to be a nuisance, but with that wheel that looks like a buoy in place, it turns into a true defensive system against tailgaters.
Unfortunately, we can’t really see the front of the car, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the owner put some bull horns on top of the hood. I mean, that would be just as classy as the rest of the car, wouldn’t it?
If you live in Texas and happen to meet this guy, please approach him and tell him in the most polite manner that what he’s doing is wrong and kindly ask him to stop. Thank you.
