A few months after its European launch, the all-new CLS four-door coupe is making its way to American showroom carrying a hefty price tag. Just as expected, only two models will be available, the standard CLS 450 and the Mercedes-AMG CLS 53. And no, there isn't a 63 version on the way.
Marking a switch away from the V6 of old, the new CLS 450 is powered by the same inline-6 as the new GLE. This produces 362-hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. Coupled with the standard 9-speed automatic, the model will reach 60 mph in 5.1 seconds.

While the base model starts from $69,200 plus $995 for destination and handling, here's also a 4Matic AWD version available from $71,700. This shaves 0.3 of a second from the sprint time.

By comparison, the Audi A7 Sportback comes with AWD for $68,000. But its 3.0-liter V6 is only good for 335-hp and the same amount of torque. Also, the CLS comes standard with the sexier AMG Line body kit, leather, a sunroof, and navigation. On top of that, customers can order various packages like the air suspension for $1,900 or the safety systems for $2,250. You can even order built-in perfume like on the S-Class.

Moving on to the flagship model, we have to mention that the Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 will probably be the most powerful version they make. It comes with the same setup as the E 53 models that were launched in Austin recently. Mercedes has paired a 3.0-liter twin-turbo with its EQ boost motor and promises a combined output of 429-hp and 384 lb-ft (520 Nm) of torque. Welcoming us into the world of hybrid AMGs, this AWD coupe jets to 60 in 4.4 seconds while being limited to 130 mph (209 kph).

It's set apart from the 450 model by more AMG trinkets, such as the quad exhaust and mildly revised grille. However, it's worth point out that the hybrid tech makes it a tad heavier as well.
