What better way to celebrate the longest-running nameplate in Australian motoring history than to honor it with a... commemorative logo!? Well, why not? After all, what do you expect them to do? Give the car a birthday cake?
As the Ford Falcon turns 51 this year, the manufacturer will release the aforementioned commemorative logo. The new design is inspired by the original Falcon bird logo from the early 1960s, but with a few tweaks here and there and a big, "50 Anniversary" inscription in the middle.
"2010 is a very special year for Ford in Australia," Ford Australia Marketing, Sales and Service Vice President Beth Donovan. "In addition to celebrating the 50th birthday of Falcon, we are also marking our 85th year as a company in Australia."
"There is no doubt that Falcon has been a true icon of the Australian motoring scene since 1960," said Donovan. "Falcon has a history of being first to market with a wide variety of technology and safety advancements. We will continue that tradition in the next 12-18 months with the introduction of an all-new liquid phase injection LPG system and the world's first rear-wheel-drive EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine."
Sadly for the Falcon, one of its wings will fall off this year, as the wagon version of the car will be sidetracked sometime this year. The reasons behind this decision include poor sales and the arrival of the Mondeo wagon.
