American Chopper to Build Bikes for Cadillac

A long time supporter of the Cure Duchenne nonprofit, American manufacturer Cadillac managed to attract into the fight another marking name of the American industry, and at the same time one of the best known American bike builders: American Chopper.

At the request of Cadillac, the two Teutuls will have to design two bikes with which they will compete with one another. The show featuring the Cadillac build and the competition between father and son will air on Monday, May 30th, and Monday, June 6th.

After the shows are over, the public will be asked to vote on their favorite ride, as usual, but both of them will go under the hammer on behalf of Cadillac, with the proceeds to be donated for the fight against Duchenne.

Being the first time the two Teutuls have been asked to build bikes for the same client, Discovery's show is very likely to attract major audiences. Cadillac bets on it, hoping to raise a sizeable amount of money during the auctions.

“We have exponentially grown our awareness because of Cadillac. Millions of people now know what Duchenne is and the devastation it wreaks,” said Cure Duchenne President Debra Miller. “We truly believe we can find a cure for Duchenne if we continue to keep it front and center in the minds of people. We are extremely grateful to Cadillac for its support.”

Duchenne, a genetic muscle disease, affects 20,000 boys and young men in the United States, and its evolution is unforgiving: those affected are diagnosed by the age of 5, in a wheelchair by age 12, and may be completely paralyzed by their late teens. Most of them do not live to see adulthood.
